What should be paid attention to when using hot melt yarn

When you need to use Hot Melt Yarn, you should keep in mind the different factors to consider. There are many types of yarns and materials available.  Several types of fibers can be combined to provide warmth, aesthetics, and a variety of other benefits.


Heat-resistant yarns are ideal for applications that need to withstand temperatures. For example, high-temperature fabric filters can be made from such yarns. They are also used in firefighter's suits and sewing threads. However, their durability can be degraded at various temperatures. Consequently, manufacturers must take this into consideration.


A hot-melt adhesive is a thermoplastic that bonds together substrates. It's composed of resins, polymers, and waxes. It provides a strong bond and can be applied to multiple surfaces. Depending on the product and the application, the adhesive may require a certain amount of time to harden.


Another important factor to consider is the degree of tenacity. It's important to remember that all types of yarn lose tenacity at different rates. For example, a polyester like Vectran will only lose about 15% of its tenacity after 300 hours at 250degC. Meanwhile, an aramid like Nomex can lose as much as several times more tenacity under the same conditions.


If you're planning to work with heat-resistant yarns, it's best to check the manufacturer's specifications for the maximum operating temperature. You can find them in the packaging or on the label.
