How is TPU fabric made?

TPU composite fabric is a composite material formed on a variety of fabrics. It is compounded with TPU film, and a new type of fabric is obtained by combining the characteristics of the two.

TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) is a thermoplastic polyurethane, which is a linear block copolymer composed of oligomer polyol soft segment and diisocyanate chain extender hard segment. TPU can be made into film by drooling, film blowing, calendering or coating. It has the advantages of elasticity, toughness, wear resistance, good cold resistance, environmental protection and non-toxicity.

The name of TPU composite fabric/cloth is thermoplastic elastomer rubber, this material can be softened under certain heat, but the composite fabric can remain unchanged at normal temperature. It serves as a stable support for the shoe. The main features are:

Wide hardness range: By changing the ratio of each reactive component in the TPU composite fabric/cloth, tent fabrics with different hardness products can be obtained, and as the hardness increases, the products still maintain good elasticity and wear resistance .

High mechanical strength: TPU composite fabric/fabric product has excellent load-carrying capacity, impact resistance and shock absorption performance.

Outstanding cold resistance: TPU composite fabric/cloth has a low glass transition temperature, and the canvas factory still maintains good elasticity, flexibility and other physical properties at minus 35 degrees.

Good processability: TPU composite fabric/fabric can be processed by common thermoplastic material processing methods, such as injection molding, extrusion, calendering, etc. At the same time, co-processing TPU composite fabrics/cloths with certain polymer materials can yield polymer alloys with complementary properties.

Oil, water and mildew resistant. Good recyclability.

There are two methods for laminating TPU fabrics, one is called post-bonding: first make a TPU film, then bond the fabric to lamination, and the other is called in-line lamination: glue or non-adhesive on the fabric, directly attach the TPU The saliva is applied to the fabric to make a TPU composite fabric or mesh fabric.

Typically, reprocessing plants are not very large. There are many small factories in China. The post-processing process requires adding high temperature and high pressure to the TPU film again. Improper process control will damage the film, even small holes.

TPU composite fabrics are used for: inflatable life jackets, BC diving jackets, life rafts, inflatable boats, inflatable tents, military inflatable self-expanding mattresses, massage airbags, medical anti-decubitus mattresses and professional waterproof backpacks.
